Starting in Niedermauern and going straight down the Nillklamm to Obermauern is a small, very nice foretaste of the steep passages that follow above Obermauern to the Nilljochhütte. A beautiful and interesting hike. Beautiful sections between the basilica and the Staffelberg over a high plateau with great views of the Banz monastery and Bad Staffelstein. Worthwhile detours to the Alter Staffelberg and a more demanding but not dangerous descent on the Karlsteig add some spice. Condition

Upper Lusatia is worth a trip. The Staffelberg is always an attractive destination. With a little courage, you can even walk up or down the mountain alone. We followed the Karlsteig downhill. And for a relaxing end to the walk, there are several worthwhile places to stop for a break in Bad Staffelstein.
