Father's Day walk in the Tote Täler nature reserve near Balgstätt. A varied walk. From a simple field path to small paths through the thicket, an orchid path and a reserve for wild horses. Fichtelgebirge tour on the Schneeberg. Despite a steady climb in drizzle, this was a very varied tour. Between some huge boulders and great-looking old and/or dead trees, there were a number of plants and animals as well as the odd panoramic view of the country to admire.

A pleasant and balanced route with small climbs and descents. The tour goes through the Thuringian Forest, which, one can only hope, will recover, as it seems to have been badly damaged by bark beetles. In the most beautiful Sunday weather, today's circular hike led again from the Steinkreuz hiking car park in Jena, to the summer linden tree with a stop at the restaurant at the Fuchsturm and back to the Steinkreuz. A relatively easy hike with a few minor hiccups 😉...if you keep an eye out for the shade-free sections, you can make some truly remarkable discoveries, which makes the hike even more interesting. At the end of the hike, you can replenish your burned calories with some delicious ice cream at one of the gelaterias.
