What fantastic weather! 😃 ... the cross-country ski track wasn't really in great shape ... the slopes on the glacier were a dream; the descent to the valley, however, was through lots of alpine meadows.
We only had our backpacks with us anyway, so we took winter hiking trails to the Schleier waterfall

The plan was actually only 12.5km… but because it was sooo beautiful, we extended the tour a bit 🤣… thus a great test for @Les Pedalos in preparation for stage 1 (25km) of the Cologne Trail 2026 next Saturday.

Today a "short" spring walk: from Essing first along the Altmühl river... then along part of the Celtic rampart... to the Kehlheim Liberation Hall... downhill to the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal - across the Kehlheim lock... uphill again to Randeck Castle... and down to our destination: Schneider Brewery Inn 🍻

…for a bit of sunshine ☀️, we head 100km east to the Upper Palatinate Forest.
We start near Tännesberg at Bursweiher pond in 0°C 🌡️… and sure enough: after a few kilometers, sunshine and blue skies. We hike along the Goldsteig and Burgenweg trails – quite an adventure: icy, along the cross-country ski
