Picturesquely situated at the tip of Sakskøbing Fjord, you'll find the "smiling town."
The history of Sakskøbing can be traced back to the 13th century, to a small neighboring town called Saxtorb.
Sakskøbing is a typically cozy southern Danish island town with many specialty shops, but at the same time, the old trading town has a modern flair.
The "smiling water tower" is the landmark of this provincial town at the end of the three-nautical-mile-long Sakskøbing Fjord. The painted eyes, nose, and laughing mouth make the top of the water tower look like a hat on a face.
