In the place of today's Protestant parish church stood already in the Middle Ages a holy job consecrated chapel.
Since today's parish church still contains elements from the late Middle Ages, it is the oldest building in the city, despite all the renovations. From pre-Reformation time comes the plan of the church with the late Gothic sanctuary (also called apse) and the tower on the northern and the Marienkapelle (today baptistery) on the southern long side.
