The Muslim cemetery was already opened in 1866. Emperor Wilhelm I. donated part of his garrison cemetery as a burial ground for the members of the Ottoman Embassy. In 1989, the last human being was buried in the cemetery - because in the Muslim faith tombs can not be reused after a certain period of time, the condition of the cemetery will be maintained for a long time in its present form. In 1983, the small Şehitlik mosque with two minarets and a small dome was built on the grounds of the cemetery.
