    Here stands the Airlift Monument - lovingly called "Hungerharke" by the Berliners due to its shape. It symbolizes the three entrance and excursion corridors on which the raisin bombers flew in to Tempelhof in order to supply the trapped Berliners with food and raw materials.

    The Platz der Luftbrücke is a Berlin transport hub on the border between the districts Tempelhof and Kreuzberg. On the square is the entrance to the former Tempelhof Airport. The buildings around the square house mainly public administration facilities, especially the police headquarters. Not far away is the Victoria Park as a resort. The name of the square commemorates the Berlin Airlift of 1948/1949.
