Great sandstone formation in the Zittau Mountains. It is one of the most difficult climbing rocks in the mountains. If you are lucky enough to see mountaineers trying to conquer the rock, you should take the time to watch them. It is very interesting what kind of athletic performance is necessary.

The Kelchstein is one of the most famous climbing peaks in the Zittau Mountains. It got its idiosyncratic mushroom shape from the effect of wind abrasion and erosion on the sandstone layers of different hardness. It was climbed for the first time before 1785: at that time, lumberjacks placed a plaque on its summit that no longer exists.
