Unfortunately the church (as of 3/2024) is not accessible!
St. George's Church is the only building in the city with a preserved tower. The church is located on the site of the castle chapel, whose tower was built in 1301.
In 1460 Limburg was founded as a parish.
Restorations at the end of the 19th century preserved the tower and at the same time changed its general appearance. The tower is entirely clad in limestone cladding dating from 1874.

The listed church contains a 15th-century Gothic crypt, a monumental stone tabernacle from 1520 and 16th-century baptismal fees. The basement is a real cemetery because more than 295 people were buried there. Many tombstones of respected and religious personalities are still visible inside and outside along the south gable.
