The train station, which was extensively modernized in 2008, is located in the north of the city. This is where the main line from Cheb to Karlovy Vary is connected. There is constant criticism of how many homeless people live here and how many beggars hang around. The area around the train station is considered a dangerous place in Sokolov.

In my experience, things are a little more “relaxed” at Czech train stations. The German TÜV would probably have a lot to do here. But that's exactly what's cool and it shows: it works without a thousand rules. In any case, the train ride itself worked really well on my Czech bikepacking trip. DB can learn a thing or two from the Czech Railways app.

The old station building has not yet been renovated. The station forecourt is also a popular meeting place for Roma and Sinti. So one should be careful.
