In Wijchmaal you really cannot ignore the parsonage. It is written in large letters above the entrance because the neoclassical parsonage, built in 1882-84, is today an ice cream parlor. That does not detract from the beautiful surroundings and the building itself.
There was previously a chaplaincy-parsonage (from 1772), but it was dilapidated. For the new building, the municipality had the bricks baked in a field oven to reduce costs, while the hall of the old parsonage would serve as a kitchen and back kitchen.
