"Kommern, the largest town in the Mechernich urban area alongside Mechernich, invites you to stroll through its historic town center:
The largest closed half-timbered ensemble in the Rhineland, the castle from the 15th to 18th centuries, the neo-Gothic church and numerous places to stop for refreshments await you..."

Kommern has been spared from fires and war damage throughout its history. The townscape and urban structure have thus retained their characteristics, some of which are up to 400 years old. Kommern thus remains one of the most beautiful half-timbered villages in the Rhineland, a gem at the foot of the Eifel, with almost 80 architectural monuments that are in very good condition thanks to the care taken by the owners. Together they form the monument area of Kommern. Source: hso-nrw.de/historische-stadt-und-ortskerne/mechernich-kommern

In the town center there are wonderful half-timbered houses. Beautifully made and maintained.
