The history of the pilgrimage to Maria Langegg goes back to the Salzburg court master Matthäus Häring, who in 1604 vowed to build a chapel for an image of the Virgin Mary he venerated - today's miraculous image - if his seriously ill child recovered. The child did indeed recover and the chapel was built in 1605.

The bright interior of the church is also worth seeing. Thus, the dome and much of the stucco are merely painted (trompe-l'oeil), but you only notice that at second glance. The very beautiful organ from the second half of the 18th century. was renovated in 2000.
