Astra is the abbreviation for the Transylvanian Association for Romanian Literature and Culture of the Romanian People. This park, in which numerous busts of important Romanian cultural figures have been erected, was named after the association.

Vandring

Old city park with shaded walking paths and ornamental fountains as well as regular folk music and dance performances.
Very clean and well-kept. A great place to linger in the summer!

The park lies in the heart of the city, bordered by Fleischergasse/Str. Mitropoliei, George Bariţiu-Straße, Hechtgasse/Str. Ioan Lupaş, and Hermannsplatz/Piaţa Unirii.

As early as 1869, the idea existed to create a city garden on the site of the demolished city walls. In 1879, the Beautification Society was founded, and the park was its first major project. It was originally widely known as Soldisch Park.
