Vandring

The Sundari Chowk is the smallest of the Patan palace's three courtyards. Commissioned in 1628 by Siddhi Narasimha Malla, it is noteworthy for the elaborately carved hiti (step well) at its centre. Sundari Chowk might have specifically built to house it. Although damaged in numerous earthquakes, including most recently in 1934 and 2015. By 2021, both the fountain and the surrounding walls have been fully restored to their original splendour.

The Sundari Chowk courtyard and Tusha Hiti stepwell may have served as the King's Siddhi Narasimha Malla bath. Another theory suggests that the bath served as a sort of altar where oblations were carried out to Hindu deities, like the offerings of pure water commonly used in day-to-day Hindu worship rituals.
