In post-Roman times, legend had it that the hill was the grave of the legendary Trier city founder Trebeta or a witches' dance floor. The hill was named after Franz von Sickingen, who is said to have fired on the city from here during the siege of Trier in 1522. However, this was probably not possible with the weapons available at the time.

The name means "Franz 'hill" and is reminiscent of the imperial knight Franz von Sickingen, who is said to have shot at Trier from here during the siege in 1522.
Historians suspect that it is a burial mound from the 2nd-3rd century. Century acts. However, excavations could not prove this.
