Tradition has it that it was a Roman temple where the goddess Ceres was worshiped, Christianized in the year 602 by Liuva II to give shelter to what is today the patron saint of the city, Nuestra Señora del Prado. What was called the Queen of the Hermitages by Felipe II, is also called the "Sistine Chapel" of ceramics, since this colorful art shows all its splendor here from the 16th century to the present day.
