The Jungfernstieg is one of the most beautiful places in Hamburg. It is located on the southern shore of the Binnenalster. Directly on the shore is a pier for the boats, which make boat tours of the inland and Außenalster, as well as through the canals and the canals. (More information about the boat tours at: alstertouristik.de).

There are also many benches right on the shore where you can take a break and enjoy the beautiful view of the Alster. On the other side of the Jungfernstieg are many shops, which you can explore well.

Vandring

Originally, the Jungfernstieg was called Reesendamm, which was built to dam the Alster river. In 1665, the dam became a tree-lined promenade where families strolled with their unmarried daughters on Sundays (hence the name). In 1838, the Jungfernstieg was the first street in Germany to be paved with asphalt.

The Alster tours begin here. We decided on the 1-hour journey, 20 euros per person, unfortunately the Hamburgcard doesn't help. But it was very informative, sat well, saw a lot, funny comment. Sitting on the right side does more. There was a toilet and a drinks machine.
