Cinque Terre is the name given to five neighboring communities on the Italian Riviera. These coastal villages are known for their colorful houses, cliffs, vineyards, and charming restaurants and cafés! The towns are easily accessible by train or boat.

Monterosso station is located on the Genoa–Pisa railway line, Italy. It serves Monterosso al Mare, one of the five towns of the Cinque Terre.
The station was inaugurated on 24 October 1874, at the same time as the Sestri Levante–La Spezia line.

On 11 March 1918, the year of the station extension, an extension of the crossing loop was put into operation and at the same time a special cabin was installed at the new station to centralise signalling control.
