This church was founded in the 17th century where the old chapel of San Benito Abad stood, very close to Casa Mesa: The sponsorship of this family was fundamental to the construction of this church. The tower, together with that of the Concepción Church, forms the unmistakable silhouette of the old town of La Orotava.
Next to the church is the Museum of Ibero-American Crafts in the building that used to be a Dominican monastery.
