This square is a typical example of how history is cemented in the former historical center, or recreated in the Disyneland style: Apart from the statues of Schinkel and Beuth, nothing is original in this place, but everything replicated to the approximate state of 1886 -1945 to emulate. It would have been possible to decide to re-establish the main customs office with the booking bay and the Old Packhof - and thus the situation that lasted for approximately 200 years.

Vandring

Schinkelplatz is a triangular square in the Mitte district of Berlin. It was built in 1837 according to plans by Peter Joseph Lenné and named in 1869 after the Prussian master builder Karl Friedrich Schinkel. After the destruction in the Second World War and the overbuilding during the GDR era, Schinkelplatz was reconstructed in 2007–2008.

However, the building academy, which was also partially destroyed and dominates the square, has not yet been rebuilt (as of early 2020), although the Bundestag decided to reconstruct it in 2016. The financing and future use are unclear.
