Vandring
The museum was founded in 1894/95 as a museum of antiquities and traditional costumes. In 1900, the Butzbach Historical Society was founded, which managed the museum for decades. Since 1977, the museum has been operated full-time by the city.
Between 1907 and 1991, the museum was located in the Gothic St. Michael's Chapel. Between 1990 and 1993/94, a contemporary museum building was built on a site between the two Butzbach castles. The Butzbacher Museum inspires its visitors and friends with regular traveling and themed exhibitions. Different epochs as well as their personalities, here is just an example of the instrument maker family Scherer or Landgrave Philipp III. von Hessen-Butzbach, find a worthy place and display frame in the rooms of the museum.
Butzbach is particularly proud of the "world's largest collection of shoe miniatures" owned by Richard and Emilie Fenchel. This found its way into the Guinness Book of Records as the largest of its kind.
