Ribe Å is the name for the last 17 km of a 71 km long river system in southwest Jutland.
Ribe Å has been the city's lifeblood and main thoroughfare throughout history, but larger ships, receding water depths, sandbanks, difficult ridge slopes and more made navigating the river difficult, and its outer course was laid in the river as early as 1855 and the dug canal where it still is running.
