Petershof, located in the west of the cathedral square, was the seat of the bishops of Halberstadt in the Middle Ages. It was built in the 12th century on the foundations of a previous building. Petershof received its present appearance in the 16th century. After a comprehensive renovation of the entire building complex in the 1990s, the city council of Halberstadt moved into the Petershof.
The picture shows the view from the cloister on the Saalbau with the stair tower, over whose portal the coat of arms of the archbishop Sigismund (1553-1566) is.
