Old gate of Alicante, formerly called Plaça de les Forques, a place chosen to administer justice until 1810. Fortunately, today's visitor will find a very beautiful square with century-old ficus trees more than 6 meters in size that grow in summer months to make this square a pleasant and shady place.

El Portal de Elche is a central square in Alicante.
It was realized in the 19th century as a place for water supply and a meeting point.
It is divided into four flower beds with a main axis, where the typical kiosk is located.
The trees are characteristic, with four large Ficus macrophylla protected by law because their trunk exceeds 6 m in circumference.
A beautiful square!
