The armory has been expanded several times over the course of history. The complex was partially destroyed in World War II. Therefore, only the spared part (New Armory) was restored in the 1970s. The many shutters on the roof are particularly noteworthy. But also on the facade you can find, among other things, the royal Württemberg coat of arms and a sundial.

On the edge of the city center is one of the most spacious ensembles in the Free Imperial City of Ulm: the arsenal. The spacious inner courtyard was an important meeting place for the citizens. Hardly any pieces of the rich arsenal of weapons in the armory are left in Ulm, since most of them were captured by French troops in the course of the Napoleonic Wars.
