"The Mechernich Forest (Hombusch) is extremely informative for the study of the organization of a large-scale ancient construction project: Here we can see how the Roman engineers dealt with problem areas when building the pipeline and, moreover, the pragmatism with which they went about their construction projects. The Roman route can be followed for several kilometers here - the protective roof of a high forest certainly benefited the state of preservation.
