Since 1683, the city of Königsberg had belonged to the Duchy of Saxony and was still a Protestant enclave in the entirely Catholic Lower Franconia. After a referendum, Königsberg became part of Bavaria with the Free State of Coburg in 1920.
So that's why this sign is here. But it's almost like that.
