The church dedicated to the Apostles Peter and Paul was episcopal property; Around 1160 Bishop Hartwich left them with their income to the cathedral chapter Regensburg.
The present church dates from the first half of the 13th century. The sacristy was added in the 14th century. Also the connection of the towers comes from later time.
In 1752/1753 the wooden ceiling was replaced by the remaining vault and the church was furnished in Baroque style. In 1880 it was renovated, the Gothic frescoes in the choir were restored in 1904. Another major renovation of the church took place in 2000.

Perschen with its Romanesque basilica is known as the original parish of the Upper Palatinate. frescoes a. i.e. Around 1410 and columns with figurative representations still characterize the interior, despite later baroque renovation. With the Karner and the Edelmannshof, an ensemble worth seeing has been preserved here.
