The Protestant town church was rebuilt in 1887. The building site was specially filled in so that the church, which is elevated in the centre of the town, stands out from the surrounding buildings. The church and the square are beautifully designed.

The Protestant church in Bad Rappenau was built in 1887/88 from Keupersan stone by the church architect Hermann Bahagel according to the so-called "Eisenacher Regulativ". This means that it is oriented lengthways and facing east and built on a floor plan in the shape of a Latin cross in the neo-Gothic style. It is one of the most perfectly formed and structurally exemplary church buildings in the neo-Gothic style.
