Vandring

The opera house was built 1954-1960 in the socialist "confectioner style". At the end of the 1950s, this architectural style fell out of fashion and was replaced in many socialist countries by functionalist socialist modernity. The original design was already "defused" during the construction period and the facade decoration was reduced.

There are only around 20 years between the construction of the opera and the Gewandhaus (opposite, built in 1977-1981). Would you have thought that?
