A fabulous burger experience in the Wachau. On the right bank of the Danube - on a steep cliff above the Danube - lies the Aggstein castle ruin, which has been lovingly revitalized in recent years and turned into a fabulous experience for its visitors. The Kuenringers already ruled here and there are many legends surrounding the so-called “rose garden”. Not only the fabulous view of the Danube valley or the Dunkelsteinerwald, but also the offer of the castle tavern, audio tours and the Nibelungen exhibition make a visit a fabulous experience for the whole family.

Aggstein Castle is one of the landmarks of the Wachau region. It sits 300 meters above the Danube and offers breathtaking views.
The interior of this spur castle, built on a towering rock, is also absolutely worth seeing.

The castle ruins Aggstein is the ruin of a spur castle on the right bank of the Danube in the Wachau, whose origins date back to the 12th century. The castle ruins are located about 300 meters above the right bank of the Danube on a rocky spur running east-west. It is about 150 meters long and has a rock formation at both ends. The ruin is located in the municipality of Schönbühel-Aggsbach in the Lower Austrian district of Melk.
