Where the 15th and 16th century basilica in Flamboyant Gothic style now stands, there was already a church in the 10th century. Note the gables and pinnacles decorated with leaf work and medieval animal figures like gargoyles. The square bell tower above the portal, named "Tour Sauvage" after architect Le Sauvage, was added in 1828. Inside, the gallery decorated with sculptures and murals on the north side shows a 16th century dance of death and on the south side scenes from the Passion. The baptismal fonts are from the 15th century.

This church was not dedicated to one of the many people who died as martyrs (witnesses of faith) for their Christian beliefs, or who we venerate as blessed or saints because of their exemplary way of life. Rather, this parish has chosen God himself - in the "Holy Trinity" - as its patron saint. According to Christian teaching, we believe in ONE God who exists in THREE persons - God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit.
