It's never really flat, but not really agonizingly steep either: the astonishingly many meters of altitude on the short lap come together almost unobtrusively. Only the 400-meter ascent to Oberweißbach shows almost alpine qualities with a constant incline.

From Saint-Florent, the first route is on the "Route des Vins" on the west coast of the Cap Corse northwards. The views are breathtaking, the traffic is limited. At Pino you cross the island over the 380 meter high Col de Santa Lucia over to the east coast. Behind Erbalunga it goes back into the hills

Local people meander from Altona on side streets parallel to Elbchaussee to the start, all others take the S-Bahn with them (prohibited on working days from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.)
It gets really beautiful in the Haseldorfer Marsch - in many cases the flat route here runs on dike paths
