What a really nice hike today! Well at least the first part was wonderful! There were many small, narrow paths through the Thuringian Forest, which even had a bit of an alpine character here and there. Secured with chains, we went to Altenfels, which at 650 meters offered us a truly perfect vantage point

A small but quite varied tour was the start of our Van&Hike tour through the Thuringian Forest. The region is known for the oldest long-distance hiking trail in Germany, the Rennsteig. We walked part of the way here and there, but otherwise also chose a few other paths.
