At 5 in the morning we went up the mountain with a headlamp. We didn't go as far as the Sonnalm, but we found a bench with a beautiful view of the sunrise. We had breakfast there and then back down from the mountain.

Good shoes and surefootedness definitely don't hurt here. When the weather is good, the climb is always worthwhile for the best view.
Hard exit and almost no opportunity for breaks. Mountaineering and not a hike.

Live music every Sunday at the Schwarzachalm. Used the day and drove to the parking lot in the morning, from there it's a leisurely path / forest road up to the Alm. Good to walk with children too. The path goes along the creek the whole time and if you are lucky you will see a couple of marmots. The
