Yes, you have to earn your way into the UNESCO World Heritage Site: This tour goes steadily uphill from Kandersteg village. Along the way, mountain forests and the view over the Kandertal make up for it, before you finally descend a few metres to the shore. The Berghaus Arva then offers some relaxing moments.

This Lenker summer tour starts above the tree line at the Metschstand mountain station. You then hike northwards under the Rägeboldshore until you reach the Caribbean-like mountain lake. If you want, you can now head to the Berghotel Hahnenmoospass for a night in the Alps, otherwise the starting point is close by.
