After more than 50 years, a short tour of memories through Wilhelmshaven and the Naval Museum.
The destroyer Mölders was commissioned during my active service. Today it is a museum.
The tour mostly follows the waterfront on the outward journey. The return journey takes you through Wilhelmshaven's many parks.

The beautiful autumn weather invited us to go on another bike ride. This time our destination was Evenburg Castle in the south of Leer. The castle, built in the style of Dutch classicism, is located in a park with ancient trees.

In cool cycling weather (with or without gloves?) we drove to Papenburg to the von Velen complex.
There they show impressively how Papenburg was created as a moorland settlement under Dietrich von Velen (from Velen in Münsterland).
The program with a boat tour through the canals was very impressive.

A quick evening ride from the parking spot to Leer.
The route over the Leda was the big problem. Someone came towards us on the railway bridge. Then it was impossible. A little jolting... the picture shows how narrow the path is.
On the way back we wanted to cross the Leda barrier, closed for renovation

A tour appropriate for the season with rain before, after and of course in the middle of it. Up the Weser with interesting villages including the Waldensians (Gewissenruh). Lonely ferries that suddenly wake up when passengers appear. In between there were also significant GPS problems.

After more than a week on the road, we're now on our first bike ride. It's not even 20 kilometers, but it's a lot of elevation gain. The whole experience is crowned by the beautiful view of the Rhine Falls.
