I've wanted to hike to Star Lake for several years, but fires and Covid delayed that plan. Now at 70' I felt I had more left in me to make it a go, and so I did. After rains delayed the hike for several days, the Autumn Equinox turned into a beautiful sunny and mild day with clear skies.

My plan was to go to Star Lake, but weather decided another option. So, it was changed to Monument Pass and back. I left our room around 6:45am just before sunrise. By the time I got to Monument Pass it was very breezy and Jobs Sister and Freel Peak were covered in clouds and light rain was falling
