A much nicer day on the bike today.
Early to rise (we should have brought bivvies rather than the tent) and a couple of muddy descents and then rolling back country roads all the way to Galashiels. A couple of detours to skip out the unnecessary hills (we're both not as fit as we'd like + loaded bikes

Second part of the ride. Accidentally saved the ride after the first cafe stop. This section was brutal though, constant up and down meant little rest and a seriously sore back meant it was a struggle. Stopped with 12km to stretch the back for the last time, and had nothing left after that. My slowest

Started off from Edinburgh at around 9:30 and a gentle pootle into the hills quickly deteriorated into the pits of doom (mostly for an under fed/watered rider A). Through no fault of Rider B mind you.
A lovely chat with a GBDuro rider and a rest in the sun made the rest of the ascent a little easier to

Probably the least impressive route possible for #12HoursOfMay but it felt pretty unique spending 22 hours on the same climb. My biggest solo ride to date. Previous best was 90km, so to do 210km seemed like a stupid thing to do. No training and minimal prep meant I was unsure I would finish in one piece, let alone finish!
A steady first section to the first cafe stop was a pleasant start to the day as the temperature roared after a horrific May.

That was a long day in the sadle! I started with a beautifull sunrise in my hometown Kloetinge in 4 degrees celcius.
After 30 km's I reached the eppic port of Antwerp, such an ugly piece of land. Went trough the city of Antwerp and came out on the south. Followed a part of the world championship 2021
