In the fridge of our rented house, we find regular bread, proper butter, and strawberry jam 🍓 - a dream.
At 8:30 a.m. we're on our bikes.
Almost 60 km and over 1,000 meters of elevation gain await us.
It turns out that the climbs are moderate and easily manageable on our bikes.

Today we're taking our time for the 40 km or so that lie ahead. Today we're reaching the southernmost tip of Taiwan.
We continue south along the western coast until we reach the point where the Pacific Ocean meets the South China Sea 🌊.

Today we're heading for Chiayi.
The ride once again takes us along Bike Route No. 1 and isn't very exciting.
It's mostly along the highway on the wide bike and scooter lane.
We pass through two major cities before reaching Chiayi.
From here, we'll head up to Alisan National Park tomorrow, at over 2,000 meters

Today, it's time to say goodbye to the Sun 🌞 Moon 🌛 Lake.
The path winds between mountain slopes and the lake until we reach the long descent that takes us back to the valley.

After a truly Taiwanese breakfast, we set off for Sun 🌞 Moon 🌛 Lake.
The route today is short, and the climbs are quite steep.
As it turns out later, they are easily manageable.
We ride along the river valley and after about 10 km, turn off into the mountains.
We soon reach the lake, which we will circumnavigate

The fourth stage of our tour starts in the North District of Taichung. We cycle an incredible 13 km through the neighborhoods. The next town begins immediately after.
We enter Nantou County. Rice fields give way to houses for a short while before we reach Caotun.

Our hostel in Schifen was situated on a steep hillside.
It even had a small adventure park.
Afterwards, we visited the local waterfalls. Weekend tourism had begun, and the town was quickly filling up with people.
