Herbstrunde durchs NSG Elmpter Schwalmbruch
Am Freitag ging es zu den bunten Herbstblättern, Pilzen und Vögeln im Elmpter Schwalmbruch. Ein Schwarzkehlchen kam besonders nah und auch ein Rotkehlchen ließ sich gerne auf einem Pfahl fotografieren.

Eine frühherbstliche Runde durch De Meinweg
Am Donnerstag ging es in den Nationalpark De Meinweg. Zwischen den ersten herbstlichen Farben haben sich noch einige Schwarzkehlchen sehen lassen, bevor es demnächst in den Süden geht. Auch die hübschen Kleinen Binsenjungfern waren an ihren Gewässern zahlreich vertreten.

On Thursday, we went to De Meinweg National Park. Among the first autumn colors, a few stonechats were still visible before we head south. The pretty Lesser Darter was also present in large numbers at their waters.

On Wednesday, we headed to the Meuse dunes in partly cloudy, partly sunny weather.
The heather is in bloom, and many stonechats were still present. Small copper butterflies were more common, and the damselflies were also back in numbers.

On Thursday, we went to the Brunssummerheide to see the beautiful little purple flowers, butterflies, dragonflies, and birds. Many long-tailed tits were out and about in flocks, and in addition to a few stonechats, a whinchat was also seen. Spotted flycatchers and pied flycatchers were also small highlights

On Tuesday, many red-backed shrikes and stonechats were out and about with their young in the Wahn Heath. There were also some butterflies, pretty flowers, and even red deer to be seen. The bog lilies, in particular, are currently in full bloom.

On Thursday, we headed to the High Fens to see butterflies, blooming bog lilies, wood lizards, and more.
The straight, paved sections of the trail can be a bit of a drag when the roadsides are in bloom, but you'll be rewarded with beautiful butterflies throughout.

This tour had to appear here again, as I went hiking last year but didn't have the time to edit it. The broom, which was just beginning to bloom, and the many birds and butterflies were simply too beautiful. A month ago, I was also on the Dreiborn Plateau, but the broom was just beginning to bloom.

On Thursday, we passed the Nette River, passed De Wittsee and Krickenbecker Lakes, and entered the Venlo Heath. There were some young birds, many dragonflies, and much more to see.
My first osprey was also there this time, as well as a not-at-all shy nutria.

On Sunday, we went back to the Wahner Heide. The broom is beginning to bloom, more birds have arrived, and butterflies have hatched.
Numerous lizards were sunning themselves, and a grass snake even slithered across the path. Unfortunately, I didn't get a good shot of it on camera this time.

On Saturday, I went for a walk through the Meuse dunes. I was hoping to see bluethroats, and I wasn't disappointed. Quite the opposite, as one was even closer than I had hoped. On Friday, we went to see the colorful autumn leaves, mushrooms, and birds in the Elmpter Schwalmbruch. A blackcap came particularly close, and a robin also happily posed for a photo on a post.
