The Wegeleben malt factory was built in the late 19th century and long dominated the small industrial landscape of the town in the Harz foothills. The factory was part of the regional malting and brewing industry and was integrated into larger malting operations in the first half of the 20th century

A leisurely walk to the Eissee was planned for the second half of the day. Since we still had plenty of time, we followed the T5 (challenging, technical alpine hiking) a little further east through a scree field.
The hiking trail leads up to the Seewanspitze at 3,024 meters.
It's worth testing the next

The hike around the Oker Dam is one of the most beautiful dam routes in the northern Harz Mountains and represents the next piece of my Iron Lake Challenge. The well-maintained circular trail leads almost always close to the shore of the deeply incised reservoir and offers impressive views of the water
