The small footpath from the end of Margaritenweg in Heidedorf down to the road is unfortunately in very poor condition. If there wasn't a sign saying "at your own risk", you wouldn't even recognize the path as such.

Next time I would walk the tour in a different direction. The advantage is that it then goes downhill and you don't run the risk of missing the last bus in the afternoon. By the way, the bus doesn't stop between Eschenberg and Winterberg, so there's no chance of giving up early.
