Very nice hike on mostly gravel paths. Long stretches in the shady beech forest. Not really suitable for those who prefer to go over hill and dale. Shortly before the Bichleralm we were surprised by a capercaillie who didn't like our presence, but we managed to escape him 😅. In the last part down to

Our last stage, in bright sunshine, from the Preintalerhütte over the Neualm-Scharte (2347 m) to the Hans-Wödl-Hütte (1533 m) and further downhill into the valley. Lots of stones, big steps, an exhausting descent. The view of the lakes (Obersee, Hüttensee and the Styrian Lake Constance) was breathtaking

The 2nd stage from the Ignaz-Mattis-Hütte over the Murspitzsattel (2013 m) the Duisitzkarseehütte, the Neualm to the Keinsprechthütte. In bright sunshine, gigantic views and a wonderful view of the Diusitzkarsee, we happily reached today's stage destination after about 7 hours.

We started our 1st stage on the Schladminger Tauern Höhenweg at the Hochwurzen mountain station. We climbed over the Roßfeld (1919 m) to Guschen (1983 m) and on to the Hochfeldmandl (2342 m), with wonderful panoramic views of the summit. To descend again over the Brettersee and the Giglachseen to the Ignaz-Mattis-Hut.

The summit of the Kneifelspitze can be reached from the famous pilgrimage church of Maria Gern via an easy but steep hiking trail. There you will find the Paulshütte with its summit cross, offering a unique panoramic view of the Berchtesgaden Valley and the Watzmann. It is a lovely place to stop for
