There are a few parking spaces along the TF-21 for this magnificent tour. The namesake El Sombrero peak takes a backseat on this hike, as the view into the Teide Valley caldera is so breathtaking, it's hard to beat (for me, even more impressive than the view from Mount Teide itself). As soon as I left the noise of the A2 behind me, I immersed myself in the absolute silence of the railway cycle path of the former Westphalian Railway – 25km of the best stretch, birdsong – a blessing😇.

Waking up to morning sun - what a joy🌞. After the first climb, I encountered the obligatory flat tire, which is perfectly acceptable after almost 700km.
