Wanderung rund um den Backenberg
Vom Rittergut Stockhausen in Löwenhagen ging es auf dem Panorama-Wanderweg R2 in Richtung Eberhausen. Vorbei am Gedenkstein zu Ehren Herrn v. Stockhausen dann schnurstracks zum Backenberg. Am Basaltsteinbruch lag dann der Backenberger See wo wir uns mit Ostereiern stärkten für den „beschwerlichen“ Rückweg über Imbsen nach Löwenhagen.

Wow, the rain has stopped! Three days of tropical disturbance with cold air aloft and storms were enough... Awesome hike through the rugged lava flows (Haleakala's last eruption was in 1790).
Along the way, many views of the volcano's flank and the sometimes bizarre sea bays with monster waves and blowholes

A pleasant hike in the Kapa'a upcountry through lush nature to the Ho'opi'i Falls, a popular spot with locals. At the upper falls, some daring souls plunge into the refreshing waters.

What more can be said or written? The beginning was rather unspectacular, albeit a different world (the chirping or whistling of the birds up here is like music to the ears when you're surrounded by birds in the valley).
