High above the city and the surrounding area of Le Puy-en-Velay, the Mother of God - who is venerated here under the title "Notre Dame de France" - is enthroned in a very exposed position with the baby Jesus in her arms. The builders of the statue certainly wanted to ask Mary's blessing for the city and country.

16 m high, walk-in statue of the Virgin Mary, which was built between 1856 and 1860. The components were cast from cannons that were seized during the siege of Sevastopol.

From the plateau of Rocher Corneille you can enjoy a phenomenal 360 ° view over the city and beyond. In the north, behind the hill at Malouteyre, even the 'Forteresse de Polignac' appears, to the west the view extends to the Mezenc plateau.

On the Rocher Corneille volcanic cone stands the statue of Notre-Dame de la France, 16 meters tall, erected in 1860, cast from the metal of 213 cannons captured during the Crimean War near Sevastopol and now painted pink. The statue is illuminated at night and gives a particularly 'lovely' picture.
