Richiş (German: Reichesdorf) is located in the Siberian county of Sibiu, nestled among rolling hills and following the old wine route between Biertan and Richiş. The village is known for its Gothic, over 600-year-old fortified church with its distinctive gate-bell tower and Baroque interior.
In recent years, Richiş has become a vibrant, international community – around 20 families from the Netherlands, the USA, Austria, Germany, Lithuania, Great Britain, and Switzerland live here. They run guesthouses, campgrounds, and host wine tastings in a family atmosphere.

"Reichesdorf" is the original German name. It likely refers to the village's fertile location in the valley of the Târnava Mare River and the prosperity of the first settlers who settled here in the 13th century during the Saxon colonization.
