At this pond, the Johannisbach flows into the depths via a drainage pipe. This is a problem for several reasons: firstly, according to the Water Framework Directive, fish in flowing waters must be able to swim upstream so that their reproductive cycle is not hindered. Secondly, the old mill opposite is at risk of water damage.

Even though it is hardly recognizable as a mill from the outside, the inside is almost perfectly preserved, including the grinding mechanism. You can see doors on every floor that were once used as loading areas. Due to a lack of safety precautions on the water, the mill is at risk of water damage. In order to protect this historic building, it is also necessary to rebuild the facilities around the castle courtyard pond.
